The flowers are out, the leaves are sprouting on the trees, and it’s gotten steadily warmer and sunnier (except that one freakish day we still had some flurries last week but I’m just going to pretend like that didn’t happen) so spring is officially HERE in Maryland. And I couldn’t be more excited! That means more fresh, seasonal produce is going to start popping up everywhere, in all of its colorful, tasty glory—and my farmer’s market opens in just a few short weeks.
Seasonal foods in April include: asparagus, artichokes, avocado, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, citrus, crab, crayfish, fava beans, fiddleheads, greens, herbs, leeks, mackerel, micro greens, mint, morels, mushrooms, mussels, nettles, parsnips, pea shoots, potatoes, radishes, rhubarb, and sweet potatoes!
